I sit down;
My legs have had enough for now

                                                                              I glimpse off,
                                             Into the night sky, mostly starless

I notice one star,
Or is it a plane?

                                                                                I stare at it,
                                                        Actively, erratically flashing

I watch for several minutes,
At this curious thing

                                                      I leave my seat momentarily,
                                                                          To wander a bit

I return, it has not moved,
Just above the tree-line

                                                                                     I realize:
                                                 It is not technology, it is nature

I gaze at this wonder,
What I’ve not seen before

                                                                  I marvel unblinkingly,
                                                                      At its show of light

I wander away mindlessly,
Pondering this phenomenon

                                                               And when I come back,
                                                                     It has disappeared
